Just Us Women Productions received a LEAP Award at the 15th Annual WEDC Spring Luncheon. Thank you to the Lanza Family Foundation, the Women’s Research and Education Fund (WREF) and the Women’s Enterprise Development Center (WEDC). Mika Brzezinskico-host of MSNBC’s Morning Joe, where she provides regular commentary and reads the news headlines for the program. was fabulous and thought-provoking. A record ten organizations received awards this year. Just Us Women was in the runner up category.
Winner Biography and program description:
Tamara Wrenn has a diverse and varied professional background including non-profit consulting, training au pairs new to the US, and teaching Zumba lessons. Her real passion, however, is around all things related to childbirth. Just Us Women Productions provides comprehensive educational services to women before, during, and beyond pregnancy, including birth education and birth and postpartum doula support. In addition, Ms. Wrenn provides technical assistance and training to organizations seeking to improve perinatal health care and services, reduce infant mortality, and improve birth outcomes.
Ms. Wrenn will use her $4000 LEAP Award to:
Provide start-up funding for a web-based childbirth education program to be called “Understanding Your Birth.”
