THE VALUE OF FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS RELATIONSHIPS

Having friends with benefits relationships has become very common. There was a time when this type of relationship wasn’t discussed in the open. Now even Olivia Pope announces her booty calls on late night television. The more I think about it, however, the more I agree that friends with benefits relationships might not be such a bad deal. Here are 5 reasons why:

  1. You can say yes or no before the relationship goes any further
  2. The expectations are clear
  3. No strings attached
  4. The relationship is usually more than casual before the connection
  5. They cut the burdens associated with traditional relationships

The perfect friends with benefits relationships occur with someone who is genuine and has characteristics that don’t make you wonder about their credibility. Imagine what your life would be like with someone like this.

I must confess. I am in a friends with benefits relationship and have been for over 18 years. We had many encounters over the years before I decided that this was what I wanted. Sometimes I gravitated towards the relationship and put my toes in the water. Finally I jumped in and I’ve never looked back. Who is this lucky person? No other than Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior. Now, don’t go looking at me sideways, hear me out.

The Truth About Friends With Benefits Relationships, It’s Not What You Think

Friends with benefits relationships are a perfect way to describe what I have with the Lord. Let’s look at those 5 points again, but this time from a different perspective. How to Rock Friends With Benefits Relationships, It's Not What You Think

  1. You can say yes or no before the relationship goes any further
There is no pressure in this relationship. A true relationship with Christ is about choice.
  2. The expectations are clear
In the bible God’s promises are clear and so is the way we should live our lives.
  3. No strings attached
[tweetthis]Perfection is not a needed. God accepts you as you are. The conviction to transform comes from within your heart and spirit.[/tweetthis]
  4. The relationships are usually more than casual before the connection
A relationship with Christ is just that. Anyone can claim Christianity, but what God wants is a personal relationship with you. He becomes a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
  5. They cut the burdens associated with traditional relationships
Once you experience a relationship with the Lord you set new and improved standards for your current and future relationships.

When we re-frame the concept of friends with benefits relationships we can see that they have value, but that value is only present when we claim that friendship with the Lord. That is my opinion and experience. If you have questions or you would like to discuss this with me in private feel free to send me an email.
